Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 sticks unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 large eggs, at room temperature, whisked
- 1 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Butter and flour a tube pan
- Sift the flour, baking powder and salt together and set aside
- In a stand mixer, beat the butter until smooth
- Add the sugar to the butter and cream together until light and fluffy
- Add the eggs in small additions (mixture is properly combined when it looks white, fluffy, and increased in volume)
- Add flour mixture and milk alternately, scraping down the bowl frequently
- Add the vanilla
- Pour the batter into the tube pan, smooth the top, and bake for 55-65 minutes, until a wooden toothpick comes out clean
- Transfer the pan to a cooling rack and cool for 10 minutes
- Invert the cake onto a cooling rack and cool to room temperature
