Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
 - 1/2 cup butter, room temp
 - 2 eggs
 - t tablespoon orange zest
 - 1 teaspoon vanilla
 - 2 cups flour
 - 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
 - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
 - 1/2 teaspoon salt
 - a pinch of ground ginger
 - a pinch of freshly grated nutmeg
 - 1/2 cup pecans, chopped and toasted
 
Directions
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees and butter 2 baking sheets
 - Beat sugar and butter in a large bowl until blended
 - Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each
 - Beat in orange zest and vanilla
 - Stir flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, ginger, and nutmeg into a medium bowl
 - Add dry ingredients and nuts to butter mixture; mix just until incorporated
 - Divide dough in half and place each piece on prepared sheet
 - With lightly floured hands, form each half into a log that is 3 inches in width by 3/4 inch height
 - Bake until dough logs are firm to the touch, about 35 minutes.
 - Transfer logs to work surface and, using a serrated knife, cut on a diagonal 1/2 inch thick slices
 - Arrange cut sides down on baking sheets and bake about 10 minutes, then turn biscotti over and bake another 10 minutes longer
 - Transfer to rack and cool
